The aim of the department is to empower students with knowledge, skills and aptitude to develop competency in Computer applications through well-defined curriculum and its effective implementation and to enhance active collaboration with Industry.
The Department of Computer Science realizing the fact that today the IT industry seeks not just a graduate but an industry-ready professional and hence offers industry-relevant instructional programme in Software and Hardware Technologies.The driving mission of the department is to advance the frontiers of research in computer science and automation and offer world-class pedagogical and research experience to the students.
The department has introduced best practices to enrich the academic programs such as DIGIT READER, On-Line Test, TIPS (Technical Improvement Programme for Staff and Students), An alumni interface programmes, Technical seminars, Workshops, Group Discussions, THink-IT, ChainRule. In addition to it, the Department has initiated NPTEL courses for I and II year B.Sc and BCA students.
Bangalore University Ranks, Consistent Outstanding Results Academic excellence of the Department is reflected .In order to bridge Industrial Technologies with the existing curriculum, the Department has initiated various Industry Institute Interface Programmes such as Industrial visit to INFOSYS, visit to Research Laboratories (IOT, Big Data,Cloud Computing, Virtual Reality) at RV Institute of Technology ,visit to IISC campus, Visit to Visveswaraya Technical Museum, workshop series on Advanced Technologies such as Python with DJango, Mobile Computing, J2EE, Mobile Robotics, IOT, Cyber Security
HIGHLIGHTS:
- The Department has well equipped with high ended software and hardware and it also has 2 laboratories with LAN/Internet connectivity
- Every year the Department releases a Department newsletter “TECHTONICS”.
- Department conducted UGC sponsored certification course on "Web content Authoring and Development".
- Department also has conducted Addon courses on J2EE and Python

- Students of BCA & B.Sc won the Championship of Techradiance’19.
Techradiance is a National Level Championship in association with Harbour technologies, IIT Bombay,aimed at developing student’s interest towards new technologies, and bringing them from all over the country together to participate in the celebration of knowledge and creative extravagance along with experts from the fields of DATA MINING, CYBER SECURITY, ANDROID, ROBOTICS, PYTHON, WEB DESIGNING, IOT AS WELL AS AUTOMATION INDUSTRY
Two teams emerged as National Champions (CS/IT – Techradiance’19) competing 14 various technologies teams alongside colleges from PAN India and IIT’s.
