The Department was established in the year 1990. The department is working to present its identity as theoretical construct and as a practical concern. The department of political science is dedicated to understanding and explaining politics. We offer courses on a range of topics both on domestic and international politics. Students study governance systems, public policies, political behavior and institutional design. Courses use a variety of research methods, both quantitative and qualitative and stress written and oral communication so as to increase the analytic skills of our students. The department prepares students not only to be effective citizens but for a large number of contemporary careers which require analytic thinking and the knowledge of sophisticated research methods.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Mahalakshmi K, Head of the Department of Political Science has served as the member of Board of Studies from 2011 and the member of Board of Examination from 2010.
- She has also attended UGC sponsored National Conferences and Seminars.
- The faculty has been providing opportunities to the students to excel in their own spheres by encouraging in participation in workshops seminars debates discussion and lectures . Students are sent to YMCA regularly for Model LokSabha Training.
- The young minds are motivated to learn beyond the curricular aspects thus aiming for integrated development of the students. They are provided additional reading materials and kannada medium students are given special attention.
The Department has always taken up periodic assessment, promoting quality teaching motivating to take up higher education and encouraging the students becoming better citizen
